Another fall...

Ryan has done it again! Remember mummy mentioned that ryan tends to be maboh when he lacks his precious zzzzz??? Yup! Ryan fell again and landed on his head when he became a little sleepy and drowsy at around 8 plus 9pm...

Where were we when this happened?

Godpa Derek's new abode at Bukit Panjang...it's a really cosy place with a condo layout which daddy fell in love with and even suggested moving into!
Mummy instant reaction? Daddy probably wasn't in the right frame of mind! Hahaha! Why would mummy want to move from a HDB flat into another? The point is to upgrade remember? Haiz! Daddy's losing it! Whatever was he thinking about when those words came out of his mouth?

Anyway, ryan happened to be standing behind the footstool when he tripped (probably over one of the legs) and landed on his head! OUCH! The silence and intense concentration of daddy's friends on the tennis match that was going on was instantly disrupted by the piercing screams of our poor little rascal...

Lesson learnt: someone MUST follow ryan around whenever the little one is lacking in sleep...haiz!

ryan's teeth update! (as of 05 july 2007)

ryan's 2 other teeth has emerged!! which prob explains his intolerable whining and grouchiness! of course he has started biting people when they least expect it! first victim: mommy! ryan went over and bit her on her hand (near the knuckles) and left a deep mark! hehehehe... daddy has yet to experience it! *fingers crossed*

Crash!

Ryan has done it! He actually broke a dolphin ornament this evening at mama's house!!! Thank God he wasn't hurt!

How did ryan manage to carry out such an amazing stunt?

Apparently, he managed to somehow get the glass door of the showcase opened and then I guess all that swiping his hands around and grabbing whatever was in sight probably caused the ornament to fall out and CRASH onto the ground! Gong gong ran out of his room and so did mummy! Mama could be heard shouting before the incident occurred but... I guess everyone was too slow to react!

1 point to be confirmed YET AGAIN...

Gong gong REALLY dotes on the little rascal! He didn't even scold or blame the little fella for the breakage of his dolphin ornament which has been around for some time now...

Hhhmmm... mama and I were thinking that if it had been his cousins who had broken the ornament, they would definitely have had to endure a earful from gong gong but for ryan...the matter simply blew over! Almost INSTANTLY I must add...

Oh, ryan had a fall this afternoon as well...according to mama, it happened when gong gong asked ryan to throw something into the bin for him.
The result of the fall: a red, slightly swollen lower lip

Well, I guess injuries are part and parcel of growing up...don't you think so?

A piece of gd news to share: we discovered ryan's 6th tooth sprouting! Itz the top lateral incisor tooth on his left...such a joy to see less of his gums and more white coming up! Hehehe...

Cranky and *maboh*

Yup...the title says it all...

when ryan doesn't get enough sleep in the day...that's how he behaves!
We confirmed it this evening when ryan fell, YET AGAIN, precisely because he wasn't getting enough zzzz....
This time round, the culprit wasn't mummy! Whew! It happened to be ryan's 'best' friend, gong gong....hahaha! You could see the worried look on gong gong's face....he kept rubbing ryan's head!

okay...ryan's list of 'can dos':

- say 'apple', 'banana', 'mum mum'(food), 'neh neh'(milk), 'ah ma', 'please' with his lips pressed against each other and saliva spurting, 'thanks', 'pa pa', 'ma ma', 'teh teh' (gong gong / pacifier), 'ball', 'more'(with his hands outstretched), 'no more', 'done', 'kay'(okay)

- go 'moo' when he sees a picture of a cow and 'wou wou' when he sees a dog

- absolutely LOVES brushing his teeth with his apple/banana flavoured toothpaste!

- how can we forget his all time favourite character, MICKEY? Never fails to bring on that cheeky smile with only 4 teeth (plus one sprouting) at this point in time!

- knows how to salute when asked to with the phrase 'Yes Sir!'

- been placed in naughty corners already and of course, his wails never fail to accompany his stranded and 'poor little thing' expression

- apologises after being placed in the naughty corner (he will use either hand to to tap the side of his head and that's "sorry!")

- when asked "which part of your head hurts?" following a fall/knock, he will always touch the front of his forehead and the "pls sayang me" look

- kiss! he will open his mouth widely and as he kisses your cheek, he will immediately "blow" and often a "farting" sound will emerge!

- hi-5 and shaking hands with anyone who asks him to

- clap his hands together when asked to smack a mosquito

- play peek-a-boo at the edge of mummy and daddy's bed

- blow kiss with his hand repeatedly doing the "red indian's warcry!" as he go "wah wah wah"

- a very natural reaction when he hears music...DANCE! Ryan loves bobbing up and down to the music even in his car seat! He also loves swaying his head forwards and backwards to the music

- ryan is capable of throwing away his used diapers and any other unwanted items into the bin but sometimes he throws the wrong things into the bin! E.g he once threw daddy's clean socks into the bin but managed to pick it up and return to daddy when asked to. Sometimes, he tends to pick up nonsense from the bin as well! Haiz!

- whenever daddy puts his head near ryan's, ryan will always lean forward and use his head to "knock" daddy's and he will do it repeatedly! hehehehe

- he likes to "boo!" his pacifier out of his mouth and occasionally he will invert his pacifier and show it to us with his cheeky smile! OMG!

- scratch daddy!! he scratches like a cat! the scar on daddy's face proves it all! together with the numerous scratch marks on the legs, back, arms!

- obediently sits down for us to put on his shoes whenever we tell him to

- whenever we ask him if he likes something, he will "wave" his hand front and back lightly

- he likes to lift up daddy's, gong gong's and mummy's tshirt and "blow" on their stomachs!

- he's able to climb down gong gong's bed (which is pretty high) and of course daddy and mummy's bed, crawling to the edge of the bed and then turning himself around such that his legs will "reach" the floor first.

- pick a ball and throw it whenever we tell him to or simply on his own accord

- his "hercules" moves, lifting his own bathtub, pushing the dining chairs, etc

- open & close the bathroom bi-fold door repeatedly, with the occasional tilting of his head sideways, as if peeking out from the side

- loves to read books!!! he will always walk towards his "library" section of the house where his stacks of books are kept, pick one up, plop himself down and start flipping the pages and upon completion, he will clap his hands, as if a sign of achievement! hehehe

- loves to play with the "speakerphone" button and keeps pressing it repeatedly. picks the the handset and bring it to his ear momentarily before slamming it down again.

- loves to throw himself backwards each time he sits/bounce on our bed each night as we coax him to sleep. and of course standing ip on the bed, walk a few steps with his hands in the air, before he plops down.

Shop, shop, shop...

Sunday 24th June 2007
Daddy decided that we go check out mummy's favourite LV bag today...FYI, mummy only has her eyes set on the monogram mini lin speedy...she was pleasantly surprised when she found out that it costs an affordable $1090...daddy had initially wanted to buy mummy the bag but then he decided that mummy pay for it herself if she wanted it...mummy didn't mind paying for it but she was still indecisive then...haiz! Anyway, she was close to telling the staff to get her a new bag when her little rascal decided that she wasn't going to get her bag by starting to fuss in his pram! Such 'perfect' timing I must say!

Obviously mummy didn't get to buy her bag because she wanted to get out of the embarrassing situation as soon as she could! Imagine a wailing boy in LV!!!

Mummy was pretty sore about not getting her bag and actually smsed her 'bestest' friend, auntie hikmah to inform her of the disappointment mummy was facing...

auntie hikmah managed to cheer mummy up by agreeing to ask her brother (who was in Europe) to check out the LV there and help mummy buy it if it's cheaper over there...hehehe...

now, mummy's just waiting for the good news...

ryan had the time of his life when we brought him to view the fishes at the aquarium in wisma! he loved standing on the ledge and staring at the fishes swimming past him...such a sight to see him so amused!

I believe the ice-cream that mummy shared with ryan made his day too! He simply enjoyed the cool feel even though we could see him cringe every time he licked the ice-cream from the cone!
Look at the mess...the little 'da hua mao'

A wedding!

Saturday 23rd June 2007

Today is uncle aloy's wedding...daddy's one of the brothers as he's known uncle aloy (endearingly known as 'ah xiong') for as long as he can remember!

Being one of the brothers, daddy had to leave home early in the morning and go through the normal sabotage which auntie cheryl's 'jie meis' had planned.

Mummy was of course left in charge of dressing ryan up and getting him ready for the morning mass at 9.30am...what happened was pretty predictable actually...

little rascal fell and landed on his head when he was playing with his super big, red ball whilst mummy happened to turn her attention to something else for a second! Apparently, ryan was hugging the ball when he lost balance and the ball rolled, throwing him onto the floor! OMG!
Ryan obviously wailed in pain...culprit again: who else but careless mummy? Haiz!

Anyway...the rest of the afternoon went well and in the evening it was time to head to Goodwood Park Hotel for the dinner.

A pretty well-behaved rascal attended the dinner with us...though there was a time when he actually walked over to a lady who was seated and tried to sayang her! Hahaha...such a little flirt at such a tender age! What's mummy to do when he grows older??

What a jab!!

Thursday 21st June 2007

Mummy had an EL symposium to attend and present at in the morning...she's obviously very stressed about it but thank goodness she only has a small segment to share! Auntie Hikmah aka the GURU had a much bigger role to play! Hehe...
Anyway, the symposium sharing was a huge SUCCESS as according to our GURU, we have many 'fans' who requested that we share our resources on oral communication with them! Hahaha...amazing but true! I believe that our sharing was actually one of the best... *shameless*

Went back home and poor ryan was due for his chickenpox vaccination!

Mama carried ryan whilst I tried frantically to distract him as Ah Tiu Rodney got ready to jab the unsuspecting boy with the needle...OMG! When it pricked him, he screamed INSTANTLY and let out such a heart-wrenching cry that I could see that mama was on the verge of tears! Mama will always be mama! The most noble and doting grandma one can ever find...
About 2 minutes later, ryan was all smiles again...thank goodness! Ah Tiu hates being the boogey man but hey, somebody's gotta do it! Hahahaha....

We noted that little ryan didn't want to run towards Ah Tiu into his arms after the jab....poor Ah Tiu!

Another feat!

Sunday 17th June 2007

This morning, ryan amazingly managed to climb up the combi slide ON HIS OWN! mummy wasn't actually paying attention to him and when she turned to ryan, she was SHOCKED to find him sitting at the top of the slide! mummy didn't even know that ryan was near the slide in the first place! OMG! Thank goodness he didn't slip and fall! Whew! Otherwise mummy will surely get a earful from daddy again! Hahaha..

Went to jiu jiu's house for a steamboat dinner to celebrate his birthday and thereafter, daddy decided that we bring ryan over to his other mama and gong gong's house so they could play with him.
Talk about being protective of ryan, daddy's parents are at the top of the 'protectors of ryan' list! Both grandparents were OVERLY protective of ryan especially when daddy wanted to discipline him when the rascal started to hit his gong gong. BOTH of them told daddy off and even whisked the naughty boy into the kitchen, preventing daddy from going near the little fella! Hahaha! What a scene, I tell you! Even daddy remarked that gong gong's stern facial expression was one which he hasn't seen ever since HE was a little boy!! It just goes to show how pampered this rascal is!

What are we to do now? Haiz!

Publisher my foot!

Friday 15th June 2007

Mummy's pissed today...

Went to school in the morning to meet up with the newsletter publisher to inform him of amendments that have to be made to the draft.

Lots of changes had to be made because the design was simply too...passe! It looked as if no effort was put into the design of the newsletter in the first place! OMG! I'm extremely displeased with the attitude of the publisher and his persistence in carrying out his own concept! Tai Tai Yeo seemed to give up arguing with him and concluded that we try out his new concept this time round. If we don't like the outcome, we'll change the look for the next issue. Amazing how we, the CLIENTS, have to accommodate the SUPPLIER!!! Whatever!

Went home still fuming...

Something worse happened in the afternoon...

mummy had to go back to the 'sinseh' for her wrist injury and was persuaded to undergo ACUPUNCTURE!!! It's really amazing that mummy, being the scarediest person you can find, was willing to experience having two needles stuck into her wrist and then undergo electrolysis (or is there another name for it?) It wasn't as painful as I thought it would be though..thank goodness! So there we have it! A round of applause for mummy please! *clap clap*

Happy and painless thoughts now...mummy brought ryan shopping at night for a pair of shoes/sandals (whatever we could find) It was supposed to be just mummy and darling but gong gong came to know of our plans and he insisted that mama accompany us as he was worried about me bringing boy out on my own...haiz! So poor mama had to be our escort and off we went shopping at Isetan whilst gong gong went for his karaoke at Ulu Pandan to which mama was SUPPOSED go to as well (if not for baby ryan)! Haha! Such a big boss, Ryan!

That's ryan playing a fool as mummy was trying to get him changed!

Anyway, I believe that mama enjoyed the shopping trip because SHE was the one who ended up buying clothes while mummy went home empty-handed! Even baby ryan managed to get a pair of 'Riders' sandals! Home sweet home around 10 plus....the shopping queens have done it again!

Daddy will be home tomorrow! Yahoo!

my oh my...

Thursday 14th June 2007

Mummy decided to take up the challenge of a new hairdo this afternoon. She had made an appointment for herself and auntie vivian with the newly opened 'Barracuda' salon downstairs. It was a long and exasperating wait for the final outcome as we suffered at the mercy of the stylists for at least 3 hours! Auntie vivian's experience was much longer as her hair was much longer than mummy's.

Anyway, the final product of freshly ironed and smooth hair, the result of rebonding wasn't exactly something mummy got used to so easily. Why? Mummy had decided that not only was she going to rebond her hair, she was going to change the side of her parting! Now, that posed a problem as mummy wasn't used to using her left hand to flip her hair back, especially since it was now getting in her face! Haha! Well, I suppose that's what women (vain ones at least!) have to endure as part of their regime to looking BEAUTIFUL!

After mummy's many hours at the salon, she decided that something had to be done about her left wrist which was hurting very badly! So she decided to check out the TCM shop just a few doors down. The 'sinseh' was a very gentle and demure lady in her 40s I believe. She accessed my wrist and recommended that acupuncture would be the best and fastest remedy but mummy, being the timid one as usual, declined the offer and instead requested for an easier and painless way out! So the only thing that could be done for mummy was a little massage, placing the wrist under heat and then application of some medicine.

I suppose that should do for the time being...

At night, mummy had to remove the medicine as her wrist was starting to itch a little.

Oh, a picture of one of ryan's favourite sleeping positions.

Daddy's still in the dark about mummy's new hairdo...sshhh...
