To the zoo...

26th August 2007

It's a Sunday morning and keeping to our promise, we brought the little rascal to the zoo (not that he understood what we meant anyway).

We joined jie jie and gor gor at the zoo around 11am.

Our first stop was to head to the 'Elephants of Asia' performance as the timing was perfect. Ryan was amused at first but his excitement slowly dipped after about 10 minutes and he gestured that he wanted to join daddy who was standing behind due to the lack of seats.

Off we went, even before the show ended because our little one was bored with the elephants.

Went around exploring the zoo and saw the white tigers, kangaroos, pygmy hippo, gibbons, otters, wolf, emu aka Big Bird, etc.

Look at the kangaroo, up close and personal! It seems as if Ryan's actually touching it!

Ryan's favourite animal was actually the emu. Strange but yup! He wanted to go nearer the bird even though we were already quite near it!

The white tigers intrigued him as well (well, they ARE the white tigers you know!) One was very actively pacing up and down, probably viewing us as FOOD while we were simply clicking away with our cameras, oblivious to the danger we were actually in! Haha!

The day at the zoo ended with us taking photos with the Ben and Jerry's Cow (as usual!) Don't know why but our little one seemed to love the cow!

Just look at the 2 grown men managing 3 children on a cow...hhhmmmm???

The 'Gai Gai' KING

18th August 2007

Ryan's 17 months old today! We all stayed home today as it was a Saturday and daddy's parents, as usual, came over to play with their little grandson. Hhhmmm... actually it was more of to babysit so that mummy could try to do some work for my graduating classes. Sigh...the heat is on and mummy's feeling the STRESS! Why in the world did I agree to take on TWO graduating classes! It's suicide! Only consolation now... the race is about the end soon when their examination begins in October! Well, that's about 2 more months before I can officially relax...think positive!

Anyway, the title simply says it all...
That's right! Ryan's all-time favourite activity: Gai Gai (aka walk walk / jalan jalan)

My little rascal has inherited this trait from me!!! Hahahaha! I'm so proud of him! My little 'Gai Gai' king!
Just tell him we're going 'gai gai' and IMMEDIATELY, he'd run off to his shoes and gesture to you to put them on for him! Haha! Yup! This little prince still requires us to wait on him of course!
You'd be able to see his delighted expression even if it's a simple walk outside the house, along the corridor. 'Gai Gai' simply has no limitations or boundaries, at least not for my little precious one!

Bah-bye!

15th August 2007

A simple wave was all that Ryan was capable of when it comes to bidding someone goodbye...well that was until today!

Ryan actually managed to say, or should I say, shout 'Bah-bye' this afternoon and he had his jie jie Chrissy to thank!
Jie Jie was going home in the afternoon and she was already along the corridor when I asked her to say bye bye to ah-ma and gong gong. At first, it was pretty soft so I shouted to her to say it louder and she did. All this while, Ryan was standing at the door, watching jie jie as they left.
Apparently, jie jie's loud shouts of bye bye triggered Ryan to follow suit and he started waving his hands and shouting 'bah-bye' too! It was such a sight I tell you...the first time he said 'bah-bye'!

Well, it just shows that children learn, or should I say, imitate, exceptionally FAST!

It's a Sunday again!

12th August 2007

Sunday morning...it's special because we didn't have to attend church this morning.
Don't get the wrong idea but we already attended yesterday with daddy's parents!
Special treat for Ryan too: noodles for brunch! It's the first time mummy was cooking yellow noodles for the rascal and he seemed to enjoy it even though there wasn't any meat or fish in it! Poor little one had to make do simply with tofu, carrots and brocolli in his noodle soup.

Anyway, as usual, daddy and mummy headed to town with Ryan at around 11am. Brought him to Toys'R'us and he of course, enjoyed looking AND meddling with everything he could lay his hands on! Such a handful I must say! *pant pant*

After our trip to Toys'R'us, we visited the Wisma aquarium for Ryan's sake...what were we to do if our rascal enjoys just looking at the fishes and pointing at them right? Mummy's NEVER going to rear fishes at home so this was an alternative!

Tired out from a day of activity, our boy fell asleep in the car! Poor little fellow!

Mummy cooked rice with soup for Ryan's dinner as I figured that he wouldn't want to have the same noodles for dinner. Fortunately, this time round, he had lean meat added into his soup because mummy was smart enough to remember to grocery shop at Cold Storage for Ryan's meal!

Ryan ready to zoom off in the F1 pedal car at Toys'R'us

That's Ryan getting all ready for school...(hmm, what school by the way?)

Sleepy head!

My boy's learning...FAST!

10th August 2007

It's still a holiday for mummy! Yippee!

Anyway, Ryan decided to surprise mummy in THREE ways today:

Number ONE
Bathe him this morning at home and then realised I had forgotten to take his clothes and place them beside him whilst toweling him dry so I wore his diaper and told him to go take his 'baju'.
Was busy putting away his towel and I hadn't realised that my dear boy actually knew what I was talking about and was headed towards his room where his cupboard was and he managed to open the cupboard and point into it, gesturing for me to take his 'baju'! Mummy was exceptionally pleased with little Ryan's new found independence! But of course, she wasn't going to let him pick his own clothes, at least not for now...

Number TWO
Was in Ah ma's house and watching tv whilst changing Ryan's diaper. Once I was done with putting on his clean diaper, I happily forgot about him and continued watching tv. When I turned around a minute later, Ryan was walking towards me from the kitchen, clapping his hands and smiling! It was only then that I realised...my boy had thrown away his soiled diaper ON HIS OWN! Haha! I didn't even have to instruct him this time! Such a darling! He's becoming mummy's little helper!

Number THREE
Ryan wanted to watch 'Wheels on the bus' in ah-ma's house and how did mummy know that?
Well, very easily actually! Ryan actually removed the VCD from the case and actually gestured to mummy to place it into the player where he was forcefully nudging the disc at! Ryan seriously knows his stuff about the technicalities involved in watching his favourite VCD!

Yup! Mummy simply had to pen these three little surprising acts down! My little precious is no doubt, growing up FAST!

NDP at mummy's school...

8th August 2007

It's a day before National Day and mummy's having a short day today because of National Day celebrations...

mummy was contemplating 2 options yesterday:

1. If Ryan's asleep when mummy's about to leave for school, good! We'll leave him in dreamland with daddy at home.

2. If Ryan's awake (not surprising!), mummy will lug him to school to join in the celebrations! Haha!

Mummy was praying that ryan would be asleep so she needn't lug him but...

It was going according to plan 1 when...

a STUPID, DISGUSTING cockroach had to appear in mummy's room on the floor as she came out from the toilet! Was contemplating whacking the gross creature with newspaper but figured that I'd better let daddy know that Ryan would definitely wake up!

Daddy awoke and took over the grotesque job and yes, Ryan woke up! Sigh...mummy obviously was left with option no. 2.

Drove Ryan to school and of course, he was decked in red and white as mummy was! Such a cute little sight to behold I must say!

Busy little rascal enjoyed himself in the staffroom, playing with the red and white balloons that Auntie Aida had conveniently left behind! Ryan also explored the staffroom on his own and was busy meddling with things belonging to mummy's colleagues! Oh my!
Look at the rascal having a ball of a time...

Here's Ryan looking with curiosity at the computer...

Sunday = Funday!

5th August 2007

It's a lovely Sunday and as usual, we headed for church and then our usual shopping trip after that. This time though, it was different because gong gong and ah ma accompanied us!

Mummy had a craving for Thai Express after looking at the catering menu last night and decided that yes, we were all going to have Thai cuisine for lunch!

Just look at rascal Ryan having a good time in the high chair available.

Whilst waiting for every one of us to finish our lunch.. daddy had to bring Ryan out of Thai express and he simply entertained himself with the water feature thingy outside Din Tai Fung (Paragon)

Next stop: Toys'R'us paragon...

Our little one actually impressed us with his ability to actually take a hoola hoop and place it around his waist without even anyone demonstrating the action! Gong gong simply had to snap a pic of my clever son (with a shameless mummy)!

Here it is...ryan in action!

My little firefighter!

At home with the other mama...

2nd August 2007

Yup! Mummy's got to go back to school and mama's still got to rest in order to recuperate so...

we got the other mama to look after ryan today. Daddy's mummy took leave from her job to look after the boy at home today. It's always a tiring day whenever mama has to look after the rascal as she's the more cautious granny who follows ryan practically EVERYWHERE! This is unlike his usual mama who leaves him to run around the house under the watchful eyes but doesn't chase him all the time. Well, there's always auntie Yas to help out anyway, right?

Anyway, mummy was at school the entire day till late because she had to fulfill her band commitment and by the time we got home after buying dinner, it was already 7.30pm!
Mama still seemed pretty fresh when we got home and I suppose ryan wasn't too difficult to handle.

Mama did mention though that ryan seemed a little bored and kept walking in and out of our room, presumably to check if anyone else was at home. Poor little fellow, stuck at home with only mama and no cousins to play with. Hehe!

Not to worry, I'm sure we'll bring ryan out during the weekend to enjoy himself, maybe to the Wisma aquarium once more to look at the fishes? Hhhmmm...that's one of his favourite places currently.

Well, we'll see what crops up...

Mama's ill...

1st Aug 2007

Mama's confined to her bed today because of an excruciating migraine which has been with her since yesterday actually.

Mummy took unconditional child care leave today to look after both mama and ryan.
We spent the whole day at mama's house whilst she rested in bed. The noble act that mama did was to actually cook oats for Ryan in the morning before we arrived as she was afraid he wouldn't have anything to eat! Such a selfless mama who took time to prepare his food despite being so ill.

Ryan, you must learn to be a fillial grandson when you're older and able to look after mama!

Mummy spent the whole day with ryan, entertaining him and watching him have fun playing with his toys alone. Gor Gor Ian came only later with his daddy whose job was to check in on mama and monitor her condition. When Ian had to go down to wait for his bus to take him for his CL lessons at Kinderland, our little rascal wanted to follow as well so...

mummy had no choice but to bring the active one downstairs to run around and play with gor gor before he left for school.

The running around obviously tired ryan out because he managed to nap once more when we got back upstairs. Well, that was precisely mummy's aim actually...to tire him out so he could sleep and in turn, mummy could nap too! Hehe!

Overall, an enjoyable day spent with my little rascal who is capable of producing lots of mischievous expressions now already. I'm sure he'll be up to more mischief in time to come...sigh!

URBANA! Cool...

29th July 2007

It's a Sunday and I'm pretty sure Ryan had an enjoyable afternoon...
He finally met up with his friends again after about 6 weeks? Yup! It was another gathering and this time it was auntie Vanessa who organised it at Urbana, a cool, savvy condo along river valley...

Mummy bought a pandan chiffon and a cheese cake for tea and we left town at around 2 plus to get there...

Auntie Lilacz was there with hb and Tyler...FYI, mummy hasn't since auntie lilacz since we were both preggies and attending Mrs Wong's antenatal class! I feel so old already...sigh!

Anyway, ryan had a good time amusing himself with a tent that belonged to Ariel and he especially liked the doggie toy which Tyler had brought along...

Yup...there he is, enjoying himself in the tent!

Daddy could see that ryan was tempted to go for a dip in the pool and hence decided to change him and bring him for a splash! As always, ryan simply enjoyed the time in the pool...

More mummies turned up and a group photo was taken...

Mummy learnt some tips from auntie happy, sweetpea and ginger regarding flash cards...mummy finally knows what to do with the million and one cards that are stashed away at home...hehehe!

We left at about 4.30pm because ah ma and everyone else were coming over for a steamboat dinner at our place...irony of it: we don't even own a steamboat! Hahaha! Ah ma had to lug hers to our place and she even managed to reach our house before we did and cook rice for the family! Should have seen gong gong's upset look when he realised we weren't at all prepared or at home in the first place!

Dinner was good and everyone had their fill...

Well, it's always a nice feeling to be able to eat with your loved ones, don't you think?
