More Mickey...

29th September 2007

Mummy bought Ryan the Mickey bedsheet set and decided to change his bedsheet today to amuse the little fella...

Yup, 'amuse' is definitely the appropriate word to use because Ryan just can't get enough of his favourite character!

Once the bedsheet was laid nicely, Ryan climbed onto his bed and kept pointing at Mickey with his "wooo" sounds! Haha! Yup, if you haven't realised, this little fella's best friend is Mickey Mouse!

The smiling rascal on the bed with his all-time favourite character, Mickey...

As I was trying to get Ryan ready for his nap, I then realised that perhaps it wasn't a good move to buy the bedsheet set after all...

Why? Ryan was so distracted by the character on his bed and pillow that he took FOREVER to turn in! Oh my goodness!

Mummy's learnt her lesson and is getting ready for the extended sessions of putting ryan to bed now...sigh!

The little one finally asleep...whew!!

Oh...since mummy's so proud of Ryan's little room, here's a few pics to show off what it looks like now after all her hard work!

Here's Ryan at his reading corner where the book shelf was specially bought to place his million and one books passed down from daddy's auntie!

And the bully strikes...

27th September 2007

It's the best day of the week where mummy's going to head down to the Isetan Private Sale after school today with her colleagues...

Just as mummy was on the way to the sale, ah-ma called...

"Your son ah! So naughty! I'm so angry with him! He took the alarm clock and threw it at baby Ethan while I was wiping and changing the little helpless one!"

Mummy's heart stopped for a moment as I thought of what jiu jiu and jiu ma would do or say when they heard what had happened to their little prince! Oh my! The trouble my little rascal would be in this time!

Ah-ma told me she was so furious that she scolded ryan harshly and then caned him as well...poor little fella! But seriously, he needs to be taught a lesson for all those countless times he's thrown things as and when he felt like it!

The only consolation mummy got was that di di didn't have a bruise on his forehead! Phew!

Jiu Jiu and Jiu Ma too didn't seem angry about it so ... thank goodness!

I'm just praying that Ryan learns his lesson and stops his wilful moods!

What in the world?

26th September 2007

Mummy is due for the NUH appointment to remove her stitches (for the cyst which she had removed during a day surgery) therefore she decided to take medical leave today...

Whilst getting ready to leave for ah-ma's house, Ryan decided to help mummy carry her handbag...

Oh dear! It was a funny yet disturbing sight actually...hhhmmm??? A boy carrying a lady's handbag? That just doesn't sound right, does it?

Let's bring back the birthday decor...

23rd September 2007

Daddy decided to entertain Ryan with his Mickey balloons which had already been deflated after his 1st yr birthday party in March...all his birthday decorations were safely stored in a storage box and so it wasn't at all difficult to find the 2 balloons.

Ryan had LOADS of fun just swinging and bouncing them together and the evidence? Just look at the following pics of the rascal with his yellow and red balloon...

Hhhmmm...wat should I do with the rubber band?

They're just too big for my small palms!
Finally! That was actually pretty easy!

Ooh...my new bed!

22nd September 2007

Ryan's new bed arrived this late morning and mummy had been laboriously clearing the room whilst daddy was busy at the office...

There were lots of things to remove and destroy in the process of clearing and mummy's glad that Ryan's room now looks fit for a person to stay in, rather than it being a store room!

Hhmmm...Mummy even discovered a dead cockroach (thank goodness it was DEAD!) behind Ryan's small cupboard and it was a pretty disgusting sight with all that lumps of dust next to it as well! Eeew!

Anyway, the bed was in perfect condition when it arrived and Ryan made himself comfortable once mummy had put on the new 'pirates theme' sheets she had bought.

There he is with mummy on his new, clean bed!

Ryan was also determined to ensure that the room belonged to him and only him so...

Today is also the mid-autumn fest and there was a celebration going on next to the temple downstairs which seemed like a large scale one with some minister being invited as the GOH...as usual, along with such occasions was the usual and seemingly boring rendition of the chinese song, 'lao su ai da mi'...I'm guessing that song will forever remain etched in my mind for the countless times I heard it just being sung downstairs whenever there is some sort of event going on!

Anyway, I brought Ryan down with his grandparents to join in the fun along the canal where there seemed to be a light up of numerous lanterns by the residents...actually a pretty romantic sight if not for the boisterous chatter and laughter contributed by the children.

Yup, there's the little one with his traditional red lantern which mummy managed to find while clearing Ryan's room.

Ryan with his grandparents

and then with his mummy dearest in a rather unglam shot though!

Only thing missing was that elusive mooncake which... daddy and I don't really fancy anyway! Haha!

Note that there is a massive difference in the quality of the pictures taken in the day at home and outdoors? Well, mummy had no choice but to use her lousy handphone camera (2.0 mega pixels) because she wasn't expecting to take pics downstairs...

Compare those taken with my Sony 7.2 mega pixels cam? Yup, worlds apart!

Ryan's first passport!

Daddy's in charge of applying for Ryan's passport in preparation for our HK trip in December! Yahoo! It's about time mummy went for a holiday actually...

Both sets of grandparents would be coming along as well... so yup, Ryan's the little prince on his first trip overseas! Haha...

Wanna see which cartoon pic daddy chose for Ryan's passport?

Such a sight right? Well, daddy insisted that we use this pic despite mummy's protests that he looks so 'blur'!

Learning to feed himself...

16th September 2007

Sunday morning and as usual, first to church then to go about our plans for the day.

Schedule was as follows:

1. 10am mass

2. Followed by breakfast

3. Headed to Rivervale Condo for mummy's godparents' grand-daughter's 1st mth celebration

4. Left at around 2plus-3pm for Sungei Kadut where we went bed-hunting for the little one (mummy's figured that it's time Ryan has his own bed and we bought the kind where there was another pull-out mattress which mummy was going to sleep on to train him)

Anyway, at the 1st month celebration, Ryan was trying to imitate Gor Gor Gabriel when he saw him attempting to eat on his own.

Yup! My boy wants to feed himself! Haha!
Here's the evidence...

Easy does it...just look at my boy!

There! All into my mouth! Easy!

Ah-ma wasn't too pleased with what Ryan wanted to do though...she didn't want Ryan to make a mess and dirty himself in the process!

Well, it IS about time Ryan actually learns to self-feed...he is close to 18mths you know!

BED-HUNTING was successful but I'm guessing that all that zipping in and out of the car and into the showroom proved too much for the little one after all...

Yup! The poor little fella fell ill that night and was running a fever! That dreaded fever was back and mummy and daddy weren't going to take any chances now...nope...all that sponging (no matter how much he was yelling) HAD TO BE DONE!

We're praying that Ryan recovers FAST!

Pampering grandma = angry mummy!

15th September 2007

It's a Saturday and as usual, daddy's parents came over to entertain the little prince while mummy slogs away at the computer, trying to finish setting her exam papers for year end exam.

Well, we got home after breakfast and Ryan seemed a little sleepy so mummy decided to bring him to the room to put him to bed...
He insisted on drinking his milk before sleeping but after he finished the bottle, he decided that it was going to be play time again and simply became active!

Mummy wasn't going to allow him to play since it was supposed to be a routine that he slept at around that time (11plus)
So she restrained him and didn't allow him to get off the bed. Of course, the obvious reaction...

Ryan started throwing tantrums, crying and even throwing his pacifier to the ground!

Mummy was fuming mad and placed him in the corner of the room where he continued crying of course!
Was speaking to him sternly at eye level when ah-ma decided to 'rescue' the little one!

My insistence on leaving him alone and even asking her to go out of the room fell on deaf ears as she kept saying 'He knows there's people around lah! Don't make him cry...'

I was really furious with her at that time I tell you!

I was trying to discipline the rascal and there she was, spoiling him and making me look like the evil witch! My goodness! And I haven't even gotten the stick out to threaten Ryan with yet!
I can't imagine her reaction actually...

Anyway, upon her insistence, I had no choice but to let her carry Ryan out of the room where she entertained him for about another hour or so before he finally decided to take his nap...

I, of course, had to let daddy know my displeasure and he could only say, 'Aiyah, let her be lah...my parents only see him once a week! Let her play with him lor...'

Haiz! I'm guessing Ryan knows that he can have his way when his other set of grandparents are around...but trust me...the discipline will still be enforced! Daddy's mum just has to get used to it!

Praise God for the useful tool of communication!

It's a Wednesday morning and mummy just received a phone call from daddy and baby Ryan...

Daddy called to put Ryan on speaker phone to 'talk' to mummy...a very sweet gesture considering that mummy doesn't get to wake up in the mornings with baby Ryan and hearing him first thing in the morning!

Hearing him call me 'mama' just melts my heart and him saying 'yeah' to everything I ask him is just so typical! Hehehe!

Anyway, the conversation wasn't very long since his vocabulary is still very much limited...

Only the usual 'mama', 'yeah', 'teh teh' for gong gong, 'bah-bye', etc.

And yes, I officially confirm that Ryan LOVES Mickey Mouse! Not the stuff toy but the character in the form of toys and pictures...
He's got TWO stuffed Mickeys at home but well, they're just sitting there on the shelf! Haha!
Bought him a Mickey Mouse toothbrush yesterday and he was simply ecstatic and grinning away upon seeing it!

Okay, mummy's got to go for hall duty now...post soon!

Poor little di di!

10th September 2007

It's a Monday and Ryan's little cousin, Ethan has been hospitalised at just 4mths plus! Poor little fella was running a fever and the PD instructed Ethan's parents to send him to the hospital immediately. Off they went to Gleneagles and the diagnosis was UTI (urinary tract infection).

Poor little boy was crying and screaming at the ward and according to dasao, he was sweating profusely as well!

Ah-ma, uncle Chris, myself and Ryan of course went to visit the little one in the hospital at night.

Such a heartbreaking sight to see his right hand bandaged and dasao said that he had to be on drip twice a day.

Just look at the cute little one with his bandaged hand...it must have been so painful!

And that's Ah-ma with Ethan and Gor Gor Ryan...

Let's hope that Ethan recovers soon!!!

Exercise or play time?

8th September 2007

Sat morning and mummy insisted that we bring the little one to the new playground at IMM. Off we went for some Ciabatta toast for breakfast before heading to the playground.

Simply couldn't resist posting this pic of Ryan at the playground. I seriously wonder if it was more a torture or fun for him in this pose? Hhmmm...??

No rod but a balloon stick will do!

7th September 2007

It's a Friday and it's the last day of mummy's one week break! Sigh...the week seriously passed me by in the blink of an eye! Disgusting!

Anyway, I stayed at ah ma's house the entire day with ethan, ryan, auntie Susan and ah ma of course!

Morning went well... Ryan and I had a long nap of about 2.5 hours before he woke up to be fed his porridge aka ah por!

By the time it reached 3pm, Ryan had made mummy fuming mad! How so? He actually threw his NEW pacifier downstairs when auntie Susan had just placed him on a high stool to look out the kitchen window! Silly boy! I ignored his cries for his 'teh teh' which he had himself thrown away! Punished him by placing him in the corner of the living room but his cries got even louder and more deafening!

Mummy's patience with the boy was running out and hence she locked the rascal up in the room and ignored him for a couple of minutes. Of course, the determined one wailed even louder and even banged on the door to be released but to no avail.

Mummy only relented after a while and decided to use the balloon stick as an alternative to the cane, to threaten the mischievous fella! Ryan seemed undeterred by the warning given and so mummy had to smack his palm with the stick to show that she meant business!

Well, Ryan seemed a little afraid after that and that's good actually.

Later in the evening, the stick came in hand again...

What did the little fella do this time?

Well, he didn't want to pick up his toys despite mummy instructing him as sternly as possible! In the end, I had to constantly wave the stick in front of him in order to get him to pick up all his toys and place them in the toy box.

This is one STUBBORN and according to ah ma and gong gong, REBELLIOUS boy! Mummy and daddy are seriously dreading the day he starts school and attending the Parent-Teacher meetings (which we guess will be pretty often for our little rascal! Sigh...)

The filthy dustbin

1st September 2007

Ryan did something grotesque this afternoon...all thanks to out negligence!

Daddy was going through his mail in the living room and I had just finished my bath.

As I walked into the kitchen, I saw Ryan munching on the side of the Gardenia Milk Bread! I shouted at daddy to ask if he had given him bread to eat because I remember having thrown the sides of the bread into the dustbin which was completely accessible to Ryan!

Daddy's reaction of "What bread?" incurred my wrath as I knew then that my poor little son had rummaged through the bin and found the bread!

Yup! That's the bin we're talking about!

The peeved mummy obviously screamed at daddy and then quickly removed the bread from Ryan's hands and gave him a harsh scolding! (I'm pretty sure that Ryan is well able to understand what we adults are yakking away everyday!)

Sigh...we've been really negligent parents! At least for today!

Sorry darling for not paying our utmost attention to you!

Forward you go!

29th August 2007

Ryan did his very first forward roll this evening as he was preparing for bed. He usually needs to roll around a substantial amount before he finally falls asleep in his awkward position!

Well, mummy's expecting more forward rolls to come...sigh!
